ASSISTANT FARM MANAGER

​We're looking for someone to join our team for the 2024 Season and hopefully beyond! This is a full time (roughly 30-32 hours), seasonal position, from late April to early November.​  Prior vegetable farm experience is preferred but not required. A strong interest in growing and harvesting great food is a must!  Primary responsibilities include bed preparation, planting, weeding, harvesting, processing, washing and packing a variety of seasonal vegetables. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to learn all the tricks of the trade from an experienced farmer who is willing to teach!

  • Likes to work efficiently and takes pride in their craft

​RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • ​Help prepare beds for planting, including broadforking and spreading amendments

  • Transplanting (by hand and paperpot machine) and Direct Seeding

  • Pulling/ Flipping old beds (tearing out old veggies to make way for new)

  • Weeding / Cultivating / Hoeing

  • Training and Trellising Tomatoes and Cucumbers 

  • Wash, weigh, bag, bunch and pack vegetables for Farmer’s Market, wholesale and CSA Pick-ups

  • Help Harvest a variety of vegetables: from Salad Greens to Tomatoes to Kale to Carrots!

  • Follow detailed instructions

  • Maintain records

A TYPICAL WEEK ON THE FARM

(always subject to weather and need)

  • Tuesday - prepare beds for planting, transplant and direct seed

  • Wednesday - cultivating, trellising, greenhouse seeding

  • Thursday: - Harvest! Spray Roots.

  • Friday - Wash and Pack for market and wholesale

 

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

  • Seasonal Position: April 15 (ideally) - November 15th.

  • Hours start smaller in April and ramp up to Full Time by Mid- May.

  • Tuesday through Friday, 7:30am to 3:30pm (flexible: start and end time may be adjusted)

  • Pay is based on experience (but starts at $15 / hr)

  • Can be combined with Market Manager position for the right person!

  • Access to a good amount of free farm veggies!

MARKET MANAGER

This will be our fifth season vending at the Texas Township Farmers' Market!  We're looking for someone to be our Market Manager for the 2024 Season and hopefully beyond! The Market runs on Saturdays, May 11- Oct. 19, with training starting a couple weeks beforehand.

IDEAL APPLICANT:

  • Strong desire to build local community through farming and food

  • Great with Customers and Sales

  • Enjoys engaging with people about food and cooking

  • Attention to Detail

  • Ability to work in a fast paced and physical environment

  • Have a valid Driver's License and reliable transportation

  • Comfortable driving a Ford Transit Van

  • An artistic eye for market displays!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Run the Texas Township Farmers' Market Booth on Saturday Mornings, 8 - Noon

    • Must be able to lift 40 lbs​

    • Commit to every Saturday, May 11th - Oct.19th

    • Meet at Farm and pack farm van for the market at 6am.

    • Drive farm van (via highway) to market

    • Unload and set-up display 

    • Sell and engage with customers

    • Pack up after market and transport items back to farm

    • Keep track of inventory and report sales

    • (If it sounds like a lot, Don't worry! There will be someone to train you the first several markets!)

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

  • Seasonal Position: April 20  - October 19th. Every Saturday, Market runs 8am to Noon.  

  • Shift runs 6am to 1:30pm. (7.5 hours)

  • Pay is based on experience (but starts at $15 / hr)

  • Bi-Weekly Pay Checks or Direct Deposit.

  • Can be combined with Assistant Farm Manager Position for the right person!

  • Access to lots of free farm veggies!

  • Be part of a great team!
